Coffee Table Wedding book cover

Linh and Sam's wedding album from IRISbook is finally here and I'm super excited about it!

Here's what went into the design process.

Before starting on the album design, I met with the bride and groom to understand what was most important to them and discuss album options like the type of paper that is used, the cover materials, a display case and any other special customizations they may want.

By this time, Linh and Sam had already picked out all of their favourite and "must have" images for the album through their online gallery. For these two, both coming from larger families with six other siblings, they were really hoping to include a lot of the family portraits into the album as well as all the key moments to tell a complete story from their special day.

With this in mind, I suggested a coffee table style album from IRISbook with the standard fine art paper option. With this style, the pages open up like a traditional magazine meaning that there is a gutter and any important information in the images are designed so that they are not lost in the gutter. With this option, we were able to include up to 100 sides without any additional costs.

The initial design takes about 2-4 weeks to complete. A PDF proof of the album layout is then sent to the couple for approval. In this case Linh and Sam had a lot more images they wanted to include into the album and we were already at 100 pages. Since purchasing additional pages were not an option, we went back and forth with the design and approval process, merging layouts and taking out images where possible.

Several revisions later, a final proof was approved and the design files were sent off to IRISbook for printing and album assembly. It's a long process but it's definitely worth the wait! Linh and Sam now have a stunning, handcrafted, high-end coffee table book that they can leave out in their home for themselves and guests to look through and re-live all their special memories from their wedding day.

A perfect option to enjoy the images you invested so much in compared to a forgotten disc gathering dust on a shelf somewhere, don't you think?

This is the taupe silk cover in the 11x13 size. Satin, leather and image covers are also available. A custom name stamp is blind embossed (no colour) on the front cover. I love the modern and clean look of this type of embossing!

Between the end papers and the actual album pages, there is a translucent vellum sheet which protect the pages and adds to the artistic look of the album. Pages are printed and stacked, then sewn together at the sides with the spine sewn through the entire length. We know how often you'll want to flip through your book, this type of binding will handle all that love without falling apart.

Images are printed directly on archival fine art silk papers, made to be durable and last for years to come. The pages feel thick and luxurious and are the same thickness as paper used in fine art books.
